L’Illa Diagonal is an interesting indoor shopping centre, with nice restaurants and plenty of entertainment options, from fashion shops to sports, jewelery, food and delicatessen, homeware and kids fashion and toys. Located in a business district, L’Illa Diagonal is also close to some interesting neighbourhoods and at walking distance from Sants Estació, Barcelona’s main train hub.
With over 170 stores and restaurants, L’Illa Diagonal Shopping Centre also has two four star hotels, two schools, a gym and a night club, plus a convention centre and a park. It often features some exhibits on the premises and activities for the family are held at L’Illa Diagonal. During summer months there’s outdoor cinema sessions every evening. Projection time starts at 22.00h. So keep it in mind if you are travelling with young kids.
L’Illa Diagonal is the perfect shopping centre to visit with kids. Close enough to the city centre but not as crowded as other areas. It also has some features that travelling with kids you will simply love.
Great for kids and families
- Anti-child loss system, an identification system to avoid your children getting lost. Free service available at the Information Desk.
- All restrooms include diaper changing tables
- Infant care room in the 1st floor (next to Decathlon) where you will find seating, a changing table and microwave oven.
- Kids restrooms made to fit the needs of the younger generation.
At L’Illa Diagonal you will find plenty of stores for your family. If you are planning on getting some nice stuff for your kids then you are in luck, there are shops such as PRIMARK or Prénatal but also Boboli, Kidiliz and Suit Beibi, a lovely store with original clothing and accessories for babies and kids.
Your kids will also love to stop by at Disney Store or Imaginarium to check out some toys. There´s also a Drim and Interkits toy stores along with a FNAC.
Food options range from japanese, wok or shushi, to Mexican, Mediterranean, pasta or meat options. Some of my favourite to go with kids are the sweets from Boldu, or the nice space from Brunch and Cake along with Central café, where they offer a wide selection of sandwiches and salads for all tastes.

What to see close to L’Illa Diagonal
Near L’Illa Diagonal shopping centre there’s Les Corts neighbourhood, a nice area with narrow streets and some village-like squares that stretches just behind the shopping centre. This is not as charming as Gracia district but also far less crowded and filled with locals.
Diagonal avenue is also a good place to go for a walk, with wide sidewalks and trees. Walk towards the city centre and you will soon get to Francesc Macià area where some more shops are awaiting you if you still have the energy for some more shopping.
Not far you can also plan a visit to the Pedrabes Royal Palace and gardens or the Monastery of Pedralbes, a fine example of Gothic architecture and a quiet space in the middle of the city, both worth the visit. And not to miss that the FCBarcelona stadium. Camp Nou is only a few minutes away from this shopping centre.
